Joining a networking group is one of the best moves you can make to grow your cleaning business. Networking has been a game-changer for me, and I want to share some of the benefits I’ve experienced firsthand.

First of all, you meet incredible people. You’ll build friendships and business relationships that grow over time. Networking gets your name out there in the community, which is essential when you're just starting or trying to expand. One of the best things is that friends you make in these groups will refer you to people you haven’t even met yet, creating a ripple effect that continuously brings in new clients.

I’ve personally connected with real estate agents and contractors through networking, and they’ve sent countless clients my way. You can also team up with professionals like plumbers, interior designers, or carpet cleaners. These relationships are mutually beneficial—I refer my clients to them when I know their work is top-notch, and in return, they send clients my way. It’s a win-win!

If you’re not sure where to start, check out your local Chamber of Commerce. Many towns, counties, and regions have chambers that offer networking opportunities. You can also Google Local Networking Event in your area. I’ve made new friends and gained a lot of business just by being an active member of a few groups. The key is to put yourself out there. Don’t be afraid! If you can chat with people in line at the grocery store, you can talk to people in a networking group.

People networking

It helps to come prepared with a brief pitch about your business—something that highlights how you can solve their problem. For example, maybe you specialize in non-toxic cleaning products, or you're a solo cleaner so clients always get the same trusted person in their home. Whatever makes you stand out, make sure to share it.

The more meetings you attend, the more people get to know you, and that familiarity builds trust. People want to do business with those they trust, and networking is the perfect way to make that happen. Remember, it's just as important to listen as it is to talk. Take the time to learn about others' businesses too—this creates a stronger connection and opens the door to more referrals.
